Students in Service

East Bay, CA

Our Mission

Students in Service is a student group based in the East Bay, CA that is committed to assisting local communities and at-risk populations in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. The current stay-at-home order and social distancing guidelines pose a significant challenge to traditional volunteer service. Due to these unique circumstances, a large number of organizations are more in need of assistance than ever before, ranging from city and county governments to nonprofits and businesses. Despite the fact that many committed student volunteers are unable to serve physically, even from our homes, any and all East Bay students can make a small impact in helping members of our collective community in this time of need.

We are:

  • College and High School Students from the East Bay

Groups Served:

  • Senior Care

  • Healthcare Workers

  • Students

  • Underserved Populations

Whether you would like to take part in an existing initiative or start your own initiative, Students in Service would be happy to work with you.

Fundraising Update: We Are The World For COVID-19

May 7, 2020

In response to the COVID-19 situation, a group of student musicians decided to create a cover of Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson’s “We Are The World” in order to help fundraise for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Contra Costa, which is assisting 1,000+ underprivileged Contra Costa students quarantined at home with a supply drive to help students in their time of academic and emotional need.

Another organization that we’d love to highlight for an additional or separate donation is CityTeam Oakland. Since 1998, CityTeam Oakland has served those experiencing food insecurity, lack of stable shelter, and addiction. CityTeam’s vital community services are currently providing hundreds of daily meals and sanitation kits to 10,000+ desperate Oakland residents. Please donate to their emergency COVID fund here: https://www.cityteam.org/nightofresto...
